Program Description

The division of the Korean Peninsula is one of the most striking chapters of modern Asian history. During this tour, you will visit the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), a place that for decades has symbolically and physically separated South Korea from North Korea. It is an experience for travellers who want not only to visit important locations on the map but also to better understand the region’s history and everyday life on both sides of the border.

The tour begins with a drive from Seoul to the border area. Your first stop will be Imjingak Park, located along the Imjin River, where you will see artefacts and memorials connected to the Korean War. Next, you will visit the Freedom Bridge, a site of great symbolic importance where Korean prisoners of war returned home after the conflict.

You will then continue to the DMZ Theatre & Exhibition Hall, where you will learn more about the political and historical background of this unique area. Afterwards, you will descend into the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, an underground passage carved beneath the border between the two Koreas. It is one of the most striking sites on the route and offers a powerful insight into the tensions that have shaped the region for decades. You will also see security installations along the Military Demarcation Line and exhibitions dedicated to the history of the divided peninsula.

Another highlight of the tour is the Dora Observatory. On clear days, you can look across the border into North Korea and spot the village of Kijongdong on the other side. This is one of the moments when the uniqueness of the tour becomes most apparent – while learning about real historical events, you are also looking at a territory that remains inaccessible to most travellers.

The itinerary also includes Unification Village, a small farming community known for its local products such as soy milk, traditional soy sauce and corn-based goods. This stop offers an interesting contrast to the more historical part of the programme and provides a glimpse of everyday life near one of the most heavily guarded borders in the world.

After the half-day tour, you will return to Seoul, where the transport concludes near City Hall Station.

The order of visits and the programme may be subject to change.
