Program Description
Discover one of Romania's most spectacular scenic routes and explore the cultural treasures of Transylvania on this full-day excursion. Combining breathtaking mountain landscapes, medieval heritage and elegant aristocratic architecture, this tour showcases some of the region's most remarkable attractions.
After hotel pick-up, you'll travel along the famous Transfăgărășan Highway, widely regarded as one of Europe's most scenic mountain roads. Winding through the majestic Făgăraș Mountains, the route leads to the beautiful Bâlea Waterfall, one of Romania's most impressive natural landmarks.
The journey continues to the stunning Bâlea Glacial Lake, where you'll have free time to admire the spectacular alpine scenery and enjoy a walk in the heart of the mountains.
Next, you'll visit the ruins of the Cârța Cistercian Abbey, one of Transylvania's most important medieval monuments. Despite the passage of time, many original architectural features have survived, including capitals, keystones, windows, consoles and the impressive 15th-century western portal.
The final stop is the elegant Samuel von Brukenthal Palace, built in 1788. Explore the beautifully preserved palace and stroll through its extensive landscaped gardens before returning to your hotel.
