Program Description

Discover Amsterdam through the story of Anne Frank and the events of the Second World War. During this walking tour, you will explore places connected with the city’s Jewish community and learn what life was like in the Dutch capital during one of the most difficult periods in its history.

The route takes you through the Jewish Quarter, an important part of historic Amsterdam. You will see, among other landmarks, the Portuguese Synagogue and places that recall the Jewish community which helped shape the character of the city for centuries.

As you walk, you will also discover traces of the Second World War that can still be found on Amsterdam’s distinctive buildings and streets. Your guide’s stories will help you better understand how the war affected the city and its residents.

An important part of the tour is the story of Anne Frank - a teenage girl whose diary became one of the best-known accounts of life in hiding during the Second World War.
