Program Description

Visit one of the most remarkable attractions on the Kenyan coast, where nature has transformed a former industrial landscape into a thriving ecosystem. Haller Park is a unique nature reserve created on the site of disused limestone quarries and is now home to a wide variety of wildlife, birds and tropical plants.

After being picked up from your hotel, you will travel to Haller Park, located south of the Bamburi cement works. The story of the park began in 1971, when an ambitious environmental restoration project set out to transform the barren quarry landscape into a flourishing natural habitat. Today, forests, grasslands and ponds cover the area, creating a sanctuary for numerous animal species.

During your visit, you will have the opportunity to observe giraffes, hippos, buffaloes, crocodiles and many other animals that inhabit the reserve. Haller Park is also well known for its rich birdlife, making it a great destination for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers.

The park is divided into several themed areas, including a wildlife sanctuary, reptile park, fish farm, palm garden, crocodile enclosures and a giraffe viewing platform. In addition to its natural attractions, the park offers an insight into environmental conservation and demonstrates how degraded land can be successfully restored.

Nature lovers will also appreciate the park's impressive plant diversity. From mangrove palms to rare coastal forest species, the vegetation reflects the unique ecosystems of Kenya's coastline. The park is home to many bird species, including kingfishers, storks, owls, ibises and eagles.

At the end of the tour, you will return to your hotel.

The order of visits and the programme may be subject to change.
