Discover two of central Italy's most fascinating towns, where medieval architecture, ancient history and spectacular landscapes create an unforgettable experience. This excursion takes you to the remarkable Civita di Bagnoregio and the historic hilltop town of Orvieto, nestled among the volcanic landscapes of Lazio and Umbria.
Your first stop is Civita di Bagnoregio, famously known as the "Dying City." Perched dramatically on a rocky hill and threatened by erosion, this enchanting medieval village is reached only by crossing a 200-metre pedestrian bridge, offering breathtaking panoramic views before entering its beautifully preserved historic centre.
The journey continues to Orvieto, one of the most important centres of the ancient Etruscan civilisation. After lunch at a local restaurant, explore the fascinating underground city, where ancient Etruscan wells, cisterns and tunnels reveal centuries of hidden history. A walk through the charming medieval streets leads to Piazza del Duomo, home to the magnificent Orvieto Cathedral, regarded as one of the finest masterpieces of Italian Gothic architecture.
