Program Description
Get ready for an unforgettable journey back in time to ruins of ancient cities, forever shaped by the eruption of volcano. This full-day excursion is a perfect combination of history, discovery and authentic insight into everyday life nearly 2,000 years ago.
The tour begins with a transfer from Naples to Pompeii. Upon arrival, you will meet up with a licensed guide and spend around 2 hours exploring the ruins of Pompeii, the city buried under volcanic ash in 79 AD.
Walking through the ancient streets, you will see highlights such as the large theatre, the necropolis, the thermal baths, and the impressive houses once owned by the wealthiest residents.
After the guided visit, enjoy a lunch break at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, the tour continues to Herculaneum, where you will explore the archaeological site at your pace.
Herculaneum was covered not only by ash but also a layer of mud, which preserved buildings as well as everyday objects in exceptional detail. This allows you to observe ancient life here even more clearly than in Pompeii. The site is also well-known for the Villa of the Papyri, where an ancient library containing over 1,800 Roman-era scrolls was discovered.
After the visit to Herculaneum, you will return to Naples, taking with you unforgettable impressions from two extraordinary archaeological sites.
The order of visits and the programme may be subject to change.
