Program Description
Discover two remarkable places in southern Calabria during an excursion that combines elegant Reggio Calabria with picturesque Scilla - one of Italy’s most beautiful seaside villages. This journey offers Mediterranean scenery, fascinating history and charming streets located right by the sea.
The first stop of the tour will be Reggio Calabria, a city famous for its elegant Liberty-style architecture and relaxed coastal atmosphere. Walking along the seafront promenade, often described as “the most beautiful kilometre in Italy”, You will admire views of Sicily and the Strait of Messina. Along the waterfront, You will also see the remains of ancient Roman baths and fragments of historic Greek walls, reminders of the city’s rich past.
During your free time, You may visit the Magna Graecia Archaeological Museum, home to the famous Riace Bronzes - considered among the finest examples of ancient Greek sculpture discovered in Italy.
The journey then continues to Scilla - one of Italy’s most beautiful historic “borghi”. One of its highlights is Chianalea, an old fishing district where houses are built directly beside the water. Narrow streets, small fishing boats and seaside restaurants create the unique atmosphere of this charming place, often referred to as the “little Venice of Calabria”.
The order of the tour and the programme may change.
