Program Description
Discover two of Calabria’s most charming towns - Tropea and Pizzo - where history, Mediterranean atmosphere and regional flavours come together to create an unforgettable experience. During this excursion, You will explore some of the most picturesque places in southern Italy and taste traditional local products typical of the Calabria region.
The first stop of the tour will be Tropea, often called the pearl of the Mediterranean. The town impresses with its spectacular location on a cliff overlooking the turquoise sea and its charming historic centre filled with narrow streets and small squares. During your walk through the town, You will see its most important landmarks, including the Norman Cathedral and the famous Santa Maria dell’Isola church, beautifully situated on a rocky cliff above the coastline and considered one of Tropea’s most iconic sights.
During the excursion, You will also discover the flavours of Calabria through a tasting of regional products. Local specialities and aromas will allow You to experience the authentic character of southern Italy, while those interested will have the opportunity to purchase regional products on site.
The journey then continues to Pizzo - a picturesque seaside town known for its relaxed atmosphere and historic castle, where Joachim Murat, French general and King of Naples, was imprisoned and executed. Near the historic centre, You will visit the remarkable Piedigrotta Church, carved directly into the rock and decorated with unique stone sculptures. It is one of the most extraordinary religious sites in Calabria.

A very nice guide who talks passionately about the places she visits.
Tropea and Pizzo are definitely beautiful and worth visiting. Dominika gives excellent and informative descriptions of these places. She has a wealth of knowledge and many interesting facts about these cities. The only downside is the time – there`s not enough of it everywhere, and you have to take photos on the fly because there`s no time to stop. Other than this minor issue, I have no complaints.
