Program Description

A walk through Matera will introduce you to the famous Sassi districts - historic neighbourhoods carved directly into the soft tuff rock. The labyrinth of narrow streets, stairways, terraces and stone houses creates a unique landscape that has made Matera one of the most distinctive places in Europe.
The city is also renowned for its extraordinary architecture, where ancient caves and rock dwellings have been transformed into elegant hotels, restaurants and galleries. This unique blend of history and modernity gives Matera its unmistakable character.
During the visit, you will also discover the city’s rich religious heritage. Matera is home to more than 150 rock-cut churches, many of which preserve ancient frescoes and reflect centuries of spiritual history.
The city’s unique scenery has attracted filmmakers from around the world for decades. Matera has served as the backdrop for numerous international productions, including films featuring James Bond, thanks to its timeless and dramatic landscape.

Important information
- A minimum of 15 participants is required for the tour to operate
- Depending on the number of participants, the excursion may be conducted either with a Polish-speaking guide or a Czech-speaking guide.
- When both language groups are present, Polish and Czech guests will be looked after by separate guides at the destination.
- If one language group is significantly smaller than the other, the tour may be operated with the guide of the larger group only.
- You will be informed about the language arrangements before booking, allowing you to decide whether you wish to participate.
Vouchers
- You'll receive your voucher via email, immediately after booking.
- Your voucher contains all key information, such as pickup times and meeting points.
- Use the digital voucher on your mobile device or print it for convenience. Be sure to reach the pickup point 15 minutes ahead of time to avoid delays and ensure a smooth start to your tour.

Each Provider (Organizer) is an entrepreneur. All obligations related to contract execution lie with the Provider. SeePlaces is not responsible for the content of the offer or the manner in which it is carried out by the Provider. Any complaints related to the services provided by the Provider should be submitted directly to the Provider or via SeePlaces at the following email address: [email protected]. SeePlaces will then promptly forward your concerns to the Provider. If any comments or concerns arise during the performance of the contract by the Provider, they can be reported at the location where the tourism service is provided.
