Program Description
Convenient hotel pickup and transfer to the ancient capital of Georgia – Mtskheta. During the visit, we will explore two of the most important sacred sites in the city: the 6th-century Jvari Monastery, offering breathtaking panoramic views, and the 11th-century Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, built from greenish stones. The cathedral is a unique example of ecclesiastical architecture and, according to legend, houses the robe of Christ. Both sites are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites. Next, we visit the town of Gori, the birthplace of Joseph Stalin, where we will make a photo stop at his museum. The tour continues to Uplistsikhe, an ancient rock-hewn cave city dating back to the 6th century BC. Uplistsikhe was an important stop on the famous Silk Road and one of the main pagan religious centers in pre-Christian Georgia. Here, you can admire well-preserved and impressive ancient caves. The tour ends with a transfer back to the hotel.
