Program Description

The Akamas Peninsula is one of the wildest and most scenic areas of Cyprus. This 5-hour buggy safari takes you beyond the asphalt roads and into rugged landscapes, dusty tracks and remote coastal stretches. It is an active adventure designed for those who want to feel the breeze, the terrain and the true off-road spirit of the island.

The route begins in Latchi and leads through the traditional village of Neo Chorio into the heart of the Akamas Peninsula. You will drive through Saint Minas, the Smigies viewpoint and Pitokopos – spots offering wide panoramas over the western coastline of Cyprus. The buggy ride itself is part of the experience, as changing scenery and natural surroundings create a distinctive sense of exploration.

One of the highlights of the tour is Avakas Gorge – an impressive canyon with towering limestone walls that narrow dramatically in places. Walking among these monumental rock formations allows you to discover one of the most striking natural landmarks in the region. It is a setting where the raw power and beauty of nature can truly be felt.

The journey continues to Lara Bay and Turtle Bay – remote, unspoilt beaches known as important nesting areas for sea turtles. This stretch of coastline has preserved its natural character, far from busy resorts. The open views of the Mediterranean Sea and the wide sandy shores create a landscape completely different from the island’s popular tourist areas.

The return route runs through Akamas Forest, once again passing Smigies and Neo Chorio before reaching Latchi. It is a final opportunity to admire the diversity of the peninsula – from rocky gorges and forested hills to expansive coastal scenery.

This buggy excursion is a great choice for travellers who wish to explore the less accessible side of Cyprus and combine sightseeing with a touch of adventure.

The order of visits and the programme may be subject to change.
