Program Description

Discover two of the most captivating destinations in southern Albania on a full-day excursion that combines history, culture and relaxation. From UNESCO-listed heritage sites to crystal-clear waters, this tour showcases the very best of the Albanian Riviera.

Our journey begins in Gjirokastër, known as the Stone City and recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Famous for its distinctive stone-roofed houses, the town is often referred to as the City of Silver Roofs. As you stroll through its charming old town, you will discover cobbled streets, traditional Ottoman architecture and a unique atmosphere that has remained unchanged for centuries. You will also visit the impressive fortress overlooking the city, offering spectacular views of the surrounding valley.

There will be free time for lunch and the opportunity to browse local shops for souvenirs. It is the perfect chance to experience the authentic character of one of Albania’s most beautiful historic towns.

The tour then continues to Ksamil, one of the jewels of the Albanian Riviera. Often called the Albanian Maldives, this picturesque destination is renowned for its turquoise waters, white beaches and small islands scattered just off the coast. You will have time to relax by the sea, enjoy a coffee with a view, take a leisurely walk or simply soak up the stunning scenery.

In the evening, we return with unforgettable memories of two remarkable places that perfectly capture the cultural heritage and natural beauty of southern Albania.

The order of visits and the programme may be subject to change.

I gave the tour a very positive review. Both the logistics and the guide/leader were very well prepared. I definitely recommend this attraction to those who enjoy sightseeing on the road – the long route, which is a must for this type of tour, leads through picturesque plains, meadows, and mountain passes, allowing for stunning views of the Albanian mountain ranges and winding rivers. Gijokastra is a charming town nestled on the slopes of the mountains, with characteristic old Albanian architecture. Visiting the castle and prison is an opportunity to learn about a site important to Albanian history. However, the castle lacks a guidebook to provide a more detailed account of the site`s history; descriptions are available only in Albanian. Accredited, passionate guides are available on-site to guide visitors in English, but they are not included in this tour. This is the only drawback that could be criticized and should be improved in the future. Ksamil is an Albanian Mielno, and this is the kind of atmosphere you should expect. A beautiful beach worth seeing. It was interesting to learn how Albanians develop tourism – not every attraction boasted by locals will meet the expectations of an experienced traveler, but it`s worth exploring this perspective to better understand the country. I recommend it!
