Program Description
Discover two of southern Albania’s most remarkable attractions on a day trip to Gjirokastra and Blue Eye. This excursion combines UNESCO-listed heritage with breathtaking natural beauty, offering the perfect mix of history, culture and relaxation. Stone-paved streets, fascinating stories and one of Europe’s most stunning freshwater springs await You.
After a morning hotel pick-up, You will travel to Gjirokastra, often referred to as the “City of Stone.” This is one of Albania’s most picturesque destinations, renowned for its distinctive Ottoman-era architecture, stone-roofed houses and charming streets paved with limestone and slate. As You wander through the historic centre, You will discover a place that has preserved its unique character for centuries.
Next, You will visit the Castle of Gjirokastra, one of the oldest and most impressive fortresses in the Balkans. Perched high above the city, the castle offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and the Drino Valley. It is a place where Albania’s rich history comes to life at every turn.
Afterwards, You will have free time to explore the famous Old Bazaar, whose history stretches back more than 500 years. Surrounded by medieval architecture, You will find local artisan workshops, traditional shops and unique handmade souvenirs. Those interested can also enjoy lunch in a traditional restaurant (available at an additional cost) and sample local specialities.
The next stop is the spectacular Blue Eye, one of Albania’s most extraordinary natural wonders. This crystal-clear karst spring is famous for its vibrant shades of blue, creating the appearance of a giant human eye. Thousands of litres of water emerge every second from an underground cave, while the true depth of the spring remains a mystery. Surrounded by lush greenery, You will have time to relax, unwind and enjoy a refreshing swim in this unique natural setting.
After a day filled with unforgettable experiences, You will return to Vlora with wonderful memories and photographs of some of southern Albania’s most beautiful locations.

Reviews
The trip was interesting, but unfortunately we didn`t manage to fully meet the return time to the hotel, so we probably should have planned the time between the individual parts of the trip better (e.g. shortening the visit to the castle a bit, etc.).
Great trip, great explanation
